SURGERY SCRUB TECH

Looking for full-time / part-time position for two-plastic surgeon office with in-office AAAHC certified operating room. The position includes working in the OR as the scrub tech. Other responsibilities when not in the OR include assisting where is needed.

Will consider newly graduated surgical technologist but prefer to have OR experience. Must be knowledgeable in sterile technique and instrument handling as well as willing to learn or already able to do the following:

1. organizing and ordering OR supplies

2. scheduling maintenance on equipment

3. sterilizing equipment

4. maintenance of logs to maintain AAAHC certification

The right candidate when not working in the OR on cases must be able and willing to participate in front office duties.

The candidate must possess the following qualities:

5. enthusiastic, pleasant and motivated individual

6. pays attention to detail and accuracy

Credentials:

Graduated from a credentialed training school in surgical technology.

Surgical Tech will:

Be responsible for providing surgical scrub on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competence.

Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.

Assist surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.

Assist circulating team in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.

Gown and glove surgeons.

Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated.

Retain all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.

Assist in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.

Interact appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.

Use Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.

Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.

Follow all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.

Serve as a resource to other members of the health care team.

• Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.

Maintain designated certifications such as CPR.Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.Comply with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Required Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent

Previous clinical experience in Operating Room environment desired.

Certification in OR Technology preferred.

Current certification in CPR.
